Son of Alwyn John Buie and of Irene Buie (nee Somersall), of Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada. He stated he was single and a salesman. He enjoyed skiing, skating, lacrosse, softball, ping pong, shooting and photography. He was overseas from 30 April 1942 until his death.
