Burial/memorial information
Lance Corporal Miller, though named William, was known by friends and family as 'Bud'. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery and trained at Camp Shilo, Manitoba. His regiment was transferred to England for assignment. At the time of the D-Day Invasion, the need for infantry became acute and he was redeployed into the infantry. He was reported as missing in action while on maneuvers in the Black Forest. At the time he was reported as missing, his family were living in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, where his father was the Manager at the Bank of Toronto. He was the brother of Murray, who was aged 10 at the time of Lance Corporal Miller's death.
