He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in May 1944 and was discharged in December of the same year to join the Merchant Navy. He died of an unknown cause.
Son of Charles Muir and Elizabeth Barrett of Toronto, Ontario. During the First World War, Charles enlisted on 30 October 1915 in Montreal, Quebec, with the 13th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, regimental number 133065. Promoted to Lance Corporal, he was wounded in action by a bullet to the head on 7 September 1916. On the 24th of the same month, he wounded a finger and was brought back to England on 5th March 1917. He was repatriated to Canada on 18 April 1919 and demobilized in Montreal on the 21st. He was awarded the Class A War Service Badge, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
Half-brother of Corporal Thomas Barrett Dalrymple of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and Private Alexander William Dalrymple of the Lake Superior Regiment (Motor). They survived combat in Europe during the Second World War.
