Son of Joh Dow and Robina McColl, of Islay, Argyleshire, Scotland. Husband of Helen Armstrong Stevenson, of Bannockburn, Stirlingshire, Scotland.
He died in Trinidad of a cerebral hemorrhage, the result of his alcoholism. He was buried there. His name is also engraved on the Scottish National War Memorial 1914-1945 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
