Salt, Arthur John - Pilot Officer. Born 31st October, 1917, at Abbotsford, B.C. Entered the service of the Bank 4th November, 1936. Served at Vancouver city branches. Enlisted 7th September, 1940, from Victory Square (Vancouver) in R.C.A.F. Pilot Officer in October, 1941. Overseas in October, 1941. Served with 37 Squadron, R.A.F., in Middle East. Missing after air operations over Crete on night of 19/20th May, 1942. Officially presumed dead (10th November, 1942). His Wing Commander wrote: "During his tour of duty he proved himself a most reliable operational captain and his loss is deeply felt by us all". Pilot Officer Salt was a well known Vancouver cricketer. <br><i>From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.</i> -
