Nephew of Ojibwe soldier Private Peter Chappise, service number 486620, of the 3rd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, killed in action on June 13, 1916 at Ypres, Belgium.

He served in Canada, Great Britain, India and Burma. He had 731 days of service, including 148 overseas.
