Grave marker
Rheinberg War Cemetery 1948 171 Sqdn Halifax ( LK874 ) airborne 2339hrs 16 April 1945 from North Creake. Collided in mid-air with a 156 Sqdn Lancaster ( PB403 ), the bulk of the debris being found in woods near Murlenbach-Godesbachtal Germany. Under the directions of American soldiers, all the bodies of both crews were recovered by German civilians and buried in a mass grave alongside the road 200yrd from Murlenbach. Reburied 13th March 1948 Rheinberg British Cemetery.
