His full name is Joseph Honorius Alexandre Bélanger.
Son of Philippe Bélanger and Orcilla Lévis from Montréal-Nord, Québec.
Enlisted on 7 September 1939 in the Fusilier Mont-Royal, he served in Iceland from 29 June to 26 October 1940, in Great Britain from that date to 25 September 1943 and in Italy from 16 October. Transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment on 13 November 1943, he took part in the fighting along the Sangro River, the crossing of the Moto River and the confrontations at Casa Berardi. He was killed in action on 16 December 1943 near the crossroads between Ortona, Orsogna and San Leonardo. He had 1,559 days' service, including 1,264 overseas.
