Warrant Officer Class I Edward George Lewis Roberson (RCAF R/110103 - Pilot) of 608 (RAF) Squadron (Omnibus Ungulis) was killed when Hudson aircraft FK569 caught fire immediately after take-off then crashed and burned two miles north of the aerodrome at Grottaglie, Italy - he was the only fatality
