Brother of Flying Officer Kenneth Louis Chapman who died on November 6, 1944, while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force, and Sergeant Walter Gray Chapman who served with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

William served in Canada and Great Britain. He had 868 days of service, including 288 overseas.
