Baptized Joseph Hilaire Barriault.

Son of Joseph Antoine Barriault and Ursule Babin from Acadiaville, New Brunswick. Husband of Alberta Ivy Jennings from Eastbourne, Sussex, England. Father of June Mary and Sheila Hilary Barrieau.

He took part in the Allied landings in Sicily on 10 July 1943, where he was killed on the 18th in a German ambush on the Monte delle Forme plateau. He was buried by the roadside on the 28th. After the war, his body was exhumed and reburied in Agira, Sicily.
