Son of Ernest Bélanger and Hélène Gagné from Sayabec, Matapédia, Québec.
Shot twice in the right side of the forehead on 30 December 1943 during the Battle of Torre Mucchio, on the banks of the Senio River in Italy, he died on 3 January 1944. He was buried at Vasto, Italy, British sector, grave E-11. He was exhumed after the war and reburied at Moro River Cemetery, Italy. He had 1,323 days' service, of which 1,266 were overseas.
