Son of Joseph Benoit and Diana Langlois from Casselman, Ontario. Brother of Rolland, Percy, Florient, Fernand, Giles, Irene, Simone, Georgette and Auriette.
On 29 December 1943, the orders were to seize the heights located in the fork of the Riccio river at Torre Mucchio, near Ortona, in Italy. The objective was reached on the morning of the 30th after two costly setbacks the previous day. He was killed in action on the 30th near the Riccio and Arielli rivers. He was buried on the 31st near the chapel in Ortona. Exhumed after the war, he was reburied at Moro.
