He served with the Fusiliers Mont Royal - NPAM - from 1937 to 8 September 1939. Enlisted on the 9th in the regular forces of this regiment, regimental number D-61103, he arrived in England on the 21st. Assigned to the Mediterranean theatre, he arrived in Italy on 3rd March 1944. On the 12th, he was transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment. He was killed in action on the 15th in a stone house in the area of the village of San Nicola. He was buried at Casa Berardi before being exhumed and reburied at Moro River Cemetery in Ortona, Italy. He had served 1,649 days, including 1,375 overseas.

MORO RIVER CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY Italy
The Moro River Canadian War Cemetery lies in the locality of San Donato in the Commune of Ortona, Province of Chieti, and is sited on high ground near the sea just east of the main Adriatic coast road (SS16). The cemetery can be reached from Rome on the autostrada A25 (Rome-Pescara) by branching on the autostrada A14 and leaving it at Ortona. The approach road to the cemetery from the main road passes under an arch forming part of the little church of San Donato. The cemetery is permanently open and may be visited anytime.
