Baptized Joseph Henri Paul Lambert. Son of Donat Lambert and Bernadette Durand of Louiseville, Maskinongé, Quebec.

Enlisted on September 24, 1939, in the Régiment de St-Hyacinthe – NPAM – service number 1569, on Île Sainte-Hélène, now Montreal, Quebec; on the 20th, he was assigned to the active duty roster of that unit. On October 31, he was transferred to Company C of the Royal 22nd Regiment in Quebec City, service number D-41020. He was considered a deserter until his arrest by military police on August 1, 1941. On May 1, 1942, he embarked for Great Britain and disembarked on the 12th in Liverpool, England. On June 27, 1943, he set sail again to take part in the fighting in Sicily. He landed there on July 13. On September 3 of that year, he set foot on the Italian mainland. He was killed in action on April 18, 1944, by shrapnel to the head in the San Nicola sector. He was initially buried at Casa Berardi before being exhumed on July 25, 1944, and reburied at the Moro River Cemetery in Ortona.
