Three brothers served overseas during the war: Alpheus Mullin, service number E-28214, with the Royal Canadian Engineers, Raymond Mullin, service number E-34803, with the 4th Canadian Armoured, and Gerald Mullin, service number E-14902, with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. They survived the war.

He served in Québec, in Newfoundland with Force W, in New Brunswick and in Hong Kong with Force C.
