Son of Edward Sauson and Florence Walker of Shigawake, Quebec. Husband of Rena Evelyn Byers of Shigawake, Quebec.
Brother of Sergeant Lester Sauson, who died while serving with the Royal Rifles of Canada and Corporal Oliver Raymond Sauson, service number E-29902, Royal Rifles of Canada, also prisoner of war in Hong Kong and Japan, and survived the war. There is a commemorative headstone at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Shigawake, Quebec.
Edward served in Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland with Force W, Ontario, and Hong Kong with Force C. He had 814 days of service, including 352 overseas.
