He was born with the name Grzegorz Sokalski.

Son of Wincenty (aka Vincent) Sokalski and Rosalia Kowalzchuk of Poland. Husband of Mary Delinowska of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Father of Victoria, Leon and Rudolf Sokalski.

Served in Manitoba, Jamaica with Y Force and Hong Kong with C Force. He had 1,134 days of service, including 946 overseas.

To commemorate his sacrifice, the Manitoba government named Sokalski Lake located west of Lake Nejanilini in his honor in 1975.
