Soutar, James Ronald Fairbank - Pilot Officer. Born 11th February, 1920, at Central Butte, Sask. Educated at Shaunavon High School. Entered the service of the Bank 17th July, 1939. Served at Swift Current and Lajord, Sask. Enlisted 15th February, 1941, from the latter branch in R.C.A.F. Sergeant Observer in October, 1941; Pilot Officer in August, 1942. Trained at Brandon, Man., Regina, Sask., Edmonton, Alta., Dafoe, Sask., and Rivers, Man. Overseas in December, 1941. Attached R.A.F. Took part in large-scale air raids on Cologne and other German cities. Missing after air operations on 18th August, 1942. Officially presumed dead 22nd January, 1943. Pilot Officer Soutar was a son of Mr. J. H. Soutar, Manager of the Bank at Richard, Sask. <br><i>From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.</i>

KIEL WAR CEMETERY Germany
Kiel lies 83 kilometres north of Hamburg. From Hamburg visitors should travel north on the Autoroute 7, following signs for Kiel. Leave the A7 at the junction with the A215, still following signs for Kiel. The A215 ends on the outskirts of Kiel. Turn left at the end of the A215 onto the Westring following signs for Olympiazentrum and Flensburg. After 4 kilometres, the Nord Freedhof town cemetery will be seen on the left hand side of the road.
The Commission plot is located 100 metres from the main cemetery entrance. Visitors should note that this cemetery is restricted to normal cemetery opening hours.
