Gunner Redvers Albert Adair
Redvers Adair was a very likeable and easy going young man. He came from a large family of 10 children. He had reddish brown hair, blue eyes and freckles.
Redvers' family was very musically oriented. He learned to play the piano, horn, and fiddle at a young age.
Redvers’ mother was a sister to Minnie Horn’s mother, and thus Redvers was James Reid’s first cousin. Both were killed in the War.
As was common after the Great Depression, many voluntarily joined the Canadian forces to escape the poverty they experienced. Many young men like Redvers, enlisted because they were guaranteed a warm pair of winter boots and a warm winter coat.
The Adair family emigrated from Scotland and it is recorded that Redvers’ great grandfather helped start the Manitoba Medical Society.
Redvers was killed when he stepped on a land mine in Italy.

MONTECCHIO WAR CEMETERY Italy
The War Cemetery lies in the locality of Montecchio in the Commune of Montelabbate (Province of Pesaro). It stands on rising ground just North of the main road from Pesaro to Urbino, about 12 kilometres west of Pesaro. If approaching by car, take the road 423 from Pesaro to Urbino, following the signs for Montecchio. Just before entering the town, the Cemetery will be seen on the right hand side of the road.
