The logbook of U-552 indicates that one of the three torpedoes hit the stern of the Nerissa at 0027 hours on May 1, 1941 and sunk southeast of Rockall, position 55°57'N/10°08'W. There were 91 survivors disembarked in Londonderry, Northern Ireland by HMS Kingcup (K33) of the Royal Navy after being rescued by HMS Veteran (D72).
