Son of Vincent Frederick Boyne and Marguerite Laura White, of Fredericton, New Brunswick.
On March 29, 1941, at 6:55 a.m., the Limbourg was torpedoed by U-48 about 170 miles (274 km) south of Reykjavik, Iceland. She sank so quickly that 22 of the 24 crew members lost their lives, position 61°81'N/22°05'W. At 1:00 p.m., the two survivors were picked up by the British corvette HMS Kingcup (K33).
