Son of Eva Crosbie, of Arichat, Nova Scotia.

On 20 February 1942, at 4:53 am, the Lake Osweya was hit by a torpedo launched from U-96 south of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She broke in two and sank rapidly, in position 43°14'N/64°45'W. The 8 officers, including the captain, 22 crew members and the 9 defenders of the US Navy lost their lives.
