Chief Radio Officer John Ronald Grant

Son of John Seymour Grant and Mabel Belle Brookins of Saint John, New Brunswick.

On 26 September 1942, at 12.25 pm, the Tambour was torpedoed by the U-175 and sank in less than a minute with her captain and 7 crew members, in position 08°50'N/59°50'W. The 21 surviving sailors and 3 gunners were rescued the next day by the Norwegian merchant ship Thalatta and landed at Port of Spain, Trinidad, on the 28th.
