Son of Georges Caissy and Marie Parent of Campbellton, New Brunswick. Brother of Eugene, Jean, Arthur, Phileas, Paul, Émélia, Adèle and half-brother of Marie Blanche, Privates Donat Caissy, Alphonse Caissy, regimental number E-9325, Lionel Caissy, all of the Royal 22e Régiment. They survived the war in Europe.

Enrolled in the 18th Field Ambulance of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, he took the stretcher bearer course. He had several postings within the medical corps. His career was marked by numerous offences and arrests. He arrived in Italy on 9 April 1944 and was transferred to the Royal 22e Régiment the same day. On 21 May, he went to the front line. He was killed in action on the 25th in the Liri Sacco valley near the Cassilina road, between Campania and Latium.

CASSINO WAR CEMETERY Italy

CASSINO WAR CEMETERY lies in the Commune of Cassino, Province of Frosinone, 139 kilometres south-east of Rome. It is situated in the valley of the River Liri immediately below the southern spurs of the central Apennines. Above it at a distance of one kilometre is the dominating hill on which stands the Abbey of Monte Cassino, founded by St. Benedict in the year 529 on the site of an ancient temple of Apollo.

If approaching the CASSINO WAR CEMETERY by road, follow the Highway A2 from Rome to Naples and leave it at the Cassino exit. After passing the pay booths, follow the sign for Cassino. At the traffic lights, after a block of flats, turn right towards the locality of S. Angelo and the CWGC signs will then be seen.
