His full name is Charles Daniel Thomas.

Son of Alexander Hugh Thomas and Sarah Ann McInnes from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.

On 12 March 1942, Ingerto, which had strayed from convoy ON-70 en route from the Clyde, England, to Mobile, Alabama, was torpedoed at 3:36 pm by U-578 about 370 miles (596 km) south-southeast of St. John's, Newfoundland, position 41°33'N/51°02'W. All 32 crew members, including the captain, lost their lives.
