Son of Florence Trethewy of Burton-On-Trent, Stratfordshire, England.

Away from convoy DN-53, on 29 July 1943 she was torpedoed at 9 am by U-177 and sank in one minute south-east of Madagascar, position 27°20'S/52°10'E. The captain, 31 crew members and 5 gunners lost their lives. Five sailors and one gunner, who had taken refuge on a raft, were rescued by the Australian destroyer HMAS Nizam (G38), which landed them in Mauritius.
