His real name is Renford Bayfield Weatherbee and served as Ranceford.

Son of James Ira Weatherbee and Mary Beatrice Day from Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

On 20 September 1941, at 3:27 am, the MV Barbro was hit by two torpedoes from U-552. Her cargo of oil caught fire. At 4:30 am, U-69 attempted a coup de grâce, but failed. The captain and 33 crew members were burnt to death by the flames. The ship sank east of Greenland, in position 61°30'N/35°07'W.
