ELAN CHURCHYARD Ardennes, France

Elan is a village and commune some 7 miles (11 kilometres) south-south-east of Mezieres, and 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) south of Flize, a village on the main road (D.764) from that town to Sedan. The nearest railway station is at Nouvion-sur-Meuse on the line from Mezieres-Charleville to Sedan, some 3 miles (5 kilometres) north-east of Elan, whence a taxi completes the journey to the village. Near the northern boundary wall of the churchyard is the grave of an airman who belonged to the Royal Canadian Air Force.
