Son of Albert and Jeanette Aubin of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. Brother of Pilot Officer Joseph Gilbert Dollard Aubin who died on February 11, 1944 while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

On June 7th, 2019, in the small French town of Grangues, near the Normandy coast, the name of Joseph Aubin and an unidentified comrade were added to a memorial to 52 Allied soldiers and airmen who died close to Grangues on June 6th, 1944. Private Aubin and his comrade from 1 Can Para were reportedly shot on a road near that town on the night of D-Day by a German sentry.

RANVILLE WAR CEMETERY Calvados, France
Ranville is best reached by taking the D513 north-eastwards out of Caen, and after about 9 kilometres turning left at Herouvillette. Go north for one kilometre and then turn left into Ranville village. The War Cemetery is on Rue des Airbornes.
