Major Greathed had served in the militia before the War and upon mobilisation of The Queen's Own Rifles, he enlisted for active service. Greathed was with the Regiment in Newfoundland, N.B. and England before being transferred to higher Army Headquarters. He died in Holland while serving in a support capacity. -
