Additional information
Prior to joining the Force, S/Cst. Timms was an Intelligence Specialist with the Canadian Armed Forces. Due to his extensive military training in intelligence and espionage, he was a natural for surveillance duty with Special O and was posted to NCIB Edmonton. S/Cst. Timms had a sincere desire to learn and had a keen sense of observation which was very helpful for his position as an aerial observer. S/Cst. Timms developed and adapted an internal communications system for the section aircraft in order to enhance ground/air communications. This radio system that he developed was adapted by other police agencies. On the day of his death he was in a plane with limited visibility and heavy snow. The left wing of the plane struck a guy wire of a radio tower causing the plane to fall to the ground. S/Cst. Timms was married to Donna and they had 2 children: Kerry-Lynn and Ryan.
