Constable Gagné was posted to Digby Detachment, Nova Scotia. He was a good athlete who liked to play hockey, baseball and golf. He played hockey for the city of Vanier in the Québec Intercity League, where he competed against Patrick Roy of the Montréal Canadiens. Constable Gagné was proud of the fact that, during his career, he scored three goals on Patrick Roy. After being hired by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1992, he was sent to Montreal for a year to learn English before going to Depot. Constable Gagné had a fiancée named Nathalie. He was known as an attentive and generous person. He is buried in Sainte-Odile, Québec.
