Cst. Sander was born in Beiseker, Alberta. The boat that Cst. Sander and his partner Cst. Bloomfield were in struck one of the piers of the bridge which caused the boat to cave in and flip over. Both constables were thrown into the water. Cst. Sander was married to Alice only one month when he died. His body wasn’t found until May 15, 1955. Cst. Sander is buried in the Cemetery at Depot.
