Mair Park includes a Peace Grove which includes 12 spruce trees representing Canadian provinces and territories. A Peace Grove is a Peace Park. A Peace Park recognizes the role of our Canadian Peacekeepers and a symbol of our commitment to promoting peace around the world.

Mair Park, was designated as Prince Albert's "Peace Park" as part of Canada's 125th Birthday in 1992.

"Peace Parks Across Canada" was conceived and organized by the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) in collaboration with "CANADA 125" and the National Capital Commission. As Canada celebrated its 125th Birthday, some 400 cities and towns across Canada dedicated a Park to Peace – with most parks dedicated at Noon local time, October 8th, as the National Peacekeeping Monument was being unveiled in Ottawa. The members of the winning design team included Cornelia H. Oberlander, landscape architect.

Supporters included the Federation of Canadian Mayors and Municipalities, Canada Parks and Recreation Association, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, Heritage Canada, World Wildlife Fund Canada, Friends of the Earth, Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, and local Rotary Clubs all across Canada. Project sponsors included VIA Rail, Greyhound Lines Canada, Ltd., CP Hotels and Resorts, Ramada International Hotels and Resorts, Four Seasons Ltd., Meridien Hotels, Concept 3 Advertising and Programmed Communications, Ltd.

At noon on October 9th, 2007 – one day after the precise 15th Anniversary of the original dedications, and as Canada continues to be a beacon of peace, Tolerance, and Understanding in a world of increasing violence and distrust, and a nation that celebrates diversity, a nation-wide re-dedication was co-ordinated.

Each of the original Peace Parks incorporated a ‘Bosco Sacro’ (Peace Grove) of 12 trees as a symbolic link with one another, and with nature - and as a symbol of hope for the future. The 12 trees were also symbolic of Canada’s 10 Provinces and two Territories. As there are now three Territories, a 13th tree was planted as part of the "Re-dedication Ceremony."

Following World War II, the returned service men of Pathlow and District met to form a Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. They obtained their charter on February 13, 1948. In May 1949, the Ladies’ Auxiliary was formed, obtaining their charter on May 14, 1949.  Circa 1960, the Pathlow Branch 344 purchased Pathlow Heights County School for their Legion building, moved it into Pathlow and turned the hall back to the community. A Cenotaph honouring local men killed in action was built nearby and dedicated in 1971 at an outdoor church service. In 1992, due to the decline of Legion membership, the Ladies’ Auxiliary turned in their charter and joined the Legion Branch as Associate members. November 11th has always been the focal point of Branch activities. Services alternated between Pathlow and St. Brieux Villages, until accommodation was no longer available in Pathlow. They now hold services in St. Brieux, which are always well supported. The Branch attends Remembrance Day services at Pleasantdale and St. Brieux schools.

Big River Branch 136 was granted its charter on April 23, 1930, with 15 active members. On August 3rd, 1951, the Branch 136 Ladies’ Auxiliary was granted its charter with 15 active members. Every year since 1951, a November 11th ‘Remembrance Day’ service has been held at the Legion hall on Main Street as well as at the schools. In 1953, a cenotaph and flagpole were constructed in front of the hall to commemorate the Branch members’ dedication to Remembrance, veterans, the Branch, and the Royal Canadian Legion and its objectives.

The Paddockwood Cenotaph was erected by the Paddockwood Royal Canadian Legion Branch 31. There are 375 names on the Cenotaph in Dorothy School in the Forest Gate area.

Arborfield cenotaph consists of a shaft on a platform. It was built to honor the sol­diers who gave their lives in bat­tle. The Dutch Canadian Friendship tulip garden is planted nearby.

The Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden was erected in 2015 in partnership with Arborfield Legion Branch 203 and Communities in Bloom (CIB). Volunteers planted an interlaced pattern of red and white tulip bulbs in the garden beds surrounding the Memorial. The blooms will offer a visual reminder next spring of the link between the two countries.

Arborfield was one of the 140 communities selected from the more than 400 applications received by the Canadian Garden Council. Each of the 140 new 70th Anniversary Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Gardens across the country will consist of 700 red and white tulip bulbs (350 of each colour) donated by Vesey’s Bulbs in Prince Edward Island.

Prince Albert was one of the 140 communities selected from the more than 400 applications received by the Canadian Garden Council. The garden was erected by Bancroft  Horticultural Society. Each of the 140 new 70th Anniversary Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Gardens across the country will consist of 700 red and white tulip bulbs (350 of each colour) donated by Vesey’s Bulbs in Prince Edward Island.

The Garden was planted in fall 2015. Tulip bulbs generally bloom between the end of April and the beginning of June depending on the type of tulip and where it’s planted.

The memorial is dedicated as a living monument in recognition of the 70th Anniversary of the original Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden planted in Ottawa at the end of World War II in 1945. The memorial is in appreciation of the safe haven that members of Holland’s exiled royal family received during World War II, and in recognition of the role Canadian troops played in the liberation of the Netherlands.

The War Memorial was erected in 1930, in memory of the local boys who made the supreme sacrifice in the First World War. This monument was originally constructed west of Codette, the location at that time was known as Mac's Corners. Then in 1964 the monument was moved into Codette, Saskatchewan and placed close to the Legion Branch #275.
