The Kerrobert Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 88 built a new hall in 1966. At that time, the cenotaph was located in the park playground a couple of blocks away. Lots were traded with the town to acquire the adjacent lot to the new hall with plans to build a new cenotaph more elaborate than the old one.

Comrades Alex Gerlinsky, Mac McNichol and Ted Park got the ball rolling. The names of those who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars were inscribed on a plaque and mounted on a concrete monument.

This memorial was erected by the Flaxcombe Branch no. 98 of the Royal Canadian Legion. It is dedicated to those killed in the two world wars. The memorial is situated in an area designated as "park". When erected in 1929 it was situated in the centre of the park and surrounded by trees however when the highway was rebuilt a portion of the park was lost. Now the memorial around it, mainly lilacs and honeysuckle. There are also two flag poles on either side. The memorial is approximately 12 feet high and 10 feet square at the base and is made of stone topped with a wooden cross. The base is of two tiers and is made of parged concrete. Originally there were two captured armaments on concrete displayed in front of the cenotaph, one a machine gun and the other a heavy gun. This cenotaph has been badly neglected.

Erected by the people of Edam and area, this memorial is dedicated to Canada's war dead of the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. The stone mason who built the memorial is unknown. Sam Cole Sr. collected the stone used in the construction of the memorial. In 1990, a plaque was purchased from Remco Memorial, that included dedications to those who lost their lives in the Second World War (1939-1945) and the Korean War (1950-1953). Sam Cole and Andy Hindmarsh attached the plaque to the north side of the memorial in 1990. Remembrance Day Services have always concluded by placing a wreath at the memorial. This Service has been in existence since June 1, 1927, the date of the formation of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 106. Remembrance Day has always been special for the Community of Edam. The schools and businesses close and a Service is held.
