At St. Edmund’s Church, a bronze plaque was unveiled on the baptistry wall in memory of Private William Hesmonhalgh Blenkhorn who lost his life in the First World War. The plaque was dedicated to the church by his family.

William was born on March 14, 1897, in East Lancaster, England to Matthias and Louisa Blenkhorn. The family moved to Toronto, Ontario, when he was young, and he worked as a machinist when he enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on March 20, 1915. He served in the 25th Battalion and was killed on June 12, 1918, near Arras when he was struck by shrapnel.

In the sanctuary at St. Edmund’s Church, a sedilia was unveiled in memory of Private William Hesmonhalgh Blenkhorn who lost his life in the First World War. The sedilia was dedicated to the church by his family.

On June 15, 1919, a tablet in memory of Major Arthur William Ellis was unveiled by his mother, Margaret Ellis at the Church of the Epiphany. Major Ellis, 19th Battalion, died from his wounds on Easter Monday, 1917, four days after leading his men at Vimy, France.

An Honour Roll was erected in memory of the Glenmount United Church parishioners who served in the Second World War.

The church was located at 2029 Gerrard Street East. In 1984, the congregation amalgamated with Rhodes Avenue United Church to form Glen Rhodes United Church in the Rhodes Avenue building. In 2018, Eastminster United joined with Cosburn United and Glen Rhodes United to become East End United Regional Ministry.
