This November, they are turning the words Lest we forget into action.
The Royal Canadian Legion, in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada, invites schools and communities to take part in an act of collective remembrance. Use sticky notes to create a poppy mural filled with messages of remembrance to remind us all to Never forget.
Students will compare and contrast representations of women in Canada's military by analyzing two videos from 1944 and 2026. They will discuss similarities and differences in the roles, opportunities and representation of women in military service over time. In a short written response, students will reflect on how the messages in the two videos reveal changing societal attitudes and expectations about women. An optional extension activity provides an opportunity to further explore and honour the topic by researching and recognizing one woman Veteran.

It’s always the right time to say thank you! Recognition cards are messages of appreciation students write and give to Veterans. Connecting students with a Veteran in your community makes the activity more meaningful.
To raise awareness of the participation of Canadians from across the country in the Battle of the Somme, as well as the Battle Honours earned by various regiments who took part in the battle.
