Baptized Joseph-Alphonse-Eugène Lamothe. Son of Arthur Lamothe (deceased in 1903) and Rosanna Allard (deceased in 1899), of Montréal. He served as Alphonse LAPOINTE. He stated being born in 1890 and pretended he was single when he enlisted. He named his sister, Robina, as next of kin and also used Lapointe for her last name. He was in fact married since 1912 to Rose-Alma St-Amour, of Montréal.

He was temporarily attached to the 5th Light Trench Mortar Battery when he died.

POTIJZE CHATEAU GROUNDS CEMETERY Belgium

The POTIJZE CHATEAU GROUNDS CEMETERY is located to the North East of the town of Ieper. From the station turn left and drive along M.Fochlaan to the roundabout, turn right and go to the next roundabout. Here turn left into M.Haiglaan and drive to the next roundabout. Here turn right into Oude Veurnestraat, this then changes into Diksmuidseweg and Brugseweg. Drive along this road and continue straight over the traffic lights to the end of the road. At the T junction turn left (still Brugseweg) and continue along this road (the N313) to the village of Sint Jan. At the crossroads in the village turn right onto the N345 (Potijzestraat), follow along to the next crossroads and turn left into Zonnebeekseweg. The POTIJZE CHATEAU GROUNDS CEMETERY is located on the left hand side by the cross roads.
