Additional information
Son of Hormidas Chainé and Blanche Descôteaux from Trois-Rivières, Québec. Brother of Private Roger Chainé who fought during the Second World War. He survived the war.

Baptzed Joseph Aldeni Marcel Chainé. He previously served with the Régiment de St-Hyacinthe, Québec - NPAM - regimental number 1605, from 2 September 1939 to 9 October 1940, then with the active non-permanent militia with the 2nd Battalion of the Régiment de Trois-Rivières, regimental number D-464093 - NRMA - from 9 Octobe, 1940 to 7 February 1942. Enlisted on 18 March 1942 in the Royal 22e Régiment, regimental number E-6221, he left for Great Britain where he arrived on 3 January 1944. On 3 March 1944, he landed in Italy and was wounded in action on 19 May near the Hitler Line at Gampo Vicenzo. On 19 October 1944, he was killed in action during the Battle of Cesena and the Savio River in Italy.

CESENA WAR CEMETERY Italy

CESENA WAR CEMETERY lies in the Commune of Cesena, in the Province of Forli, and is situated one kilometre north-east of Cesena railway station on the provincial road to Cervia (Route No.71 bis).

If exiting at Cesena from the highway, the sign will be seen for the Cemetery. From the other direction in Cesena, follow the sign to Rimini and then Cervia and the Cemetery will be found on the right.

The CESENA WAR CEMETERY is permanently open and may be visited outside the working hours of the local gardening staff, but will be unmanned.
