Location:

TAUKKYAN WAR CEMETERY is outside Yangon (formerly Rangoon, Burma), near the airport and immediately adjoining the village of Taukkyan. It is on PY1 road (formerly Prome Road), about 35 kilometres north of the city from which it is easily accessible.

  • Group photo– In this photo are all six Canadians, and seven of the eight men who died (the full crew) when 159 Squadron Liberator KH255 was shot down by anti-aircraft fire during a 9 Feb 1945 raid on the port of Khao Huagang, Thailand; only 1739627 RAF Sgt Derrick Charles North Burton is absent.  The KH255 crew are buried in Collective Grave 7A. E. 10-17, Taukkyan War Cemetery, Burma.  [Crew positions on 9.2.45 are given.]
