Location:

Antwerp lies 57 Km north of Brussels on the E19 and 59 km north east of Gent on the E17 motorway. The cemetery itself is located in Wilrijk, a suburb of Antwerp. From the Bistplein in front of the railway station in Wilrijk follow the Kleinsteenweg for 300 M until you arrive at the ring road. Turn right and follow the ring road for 100 M to the first set of traffic lights and turn left. Go under the flyover and continue straight on over the dual carrageway into Jules Moretus Lei. Follow this street for 1 kilometre and the entrance to the Municipal Cemetery is on your left. After entering the cemetery follow the Commission signs to the three Commission plots at the far end of the cemetery. Alternatively ask for their location at the office within the cemetery.

  • Photo of Edward Comeau– MEETS DEATH -Trooper Edward Comeau (above), formerly of Yarmouth, who was one of seven brothers who enlisted in the army, has been killed in action in Belgium. Second of Family Lost. YARMOUTH, Nov. lO - One of seven Yarmouth brothers to enlist, Trooper Edward Comeau, son of Mrs. Dennis Comeau, formerly of Yarmouth, but now residing in New Minas; and the late Mr. Comeau, was killed in action in Belgium October 25; according to word received by his wife, the former Bernice LeBlanc; last night. Trooper Comeau enlisted about one year ago and had been overseas for only about two months. Of genial disposition he had a host of friends in his home town here. For several years he worked as a taxi driver and later with a construction company at the local airport, and in Shelburne and Dartmouth. One brother, Paratrooper Gordon Comeau, was killed a few months ago. Five other brothers are in the army. One other brother and three sisters survive, besides his mother, his Wife and three children. His wife's brother Pte. Paul Leblanc was killed a few months ago.
