There are 44 names on three sides of the memorial representing those men who died during World War One. A panel was added at a later date to include 18 names of local men who died in World War Two. Inscribed: IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF MERRITT AND THE NICOLA VALLEY DISTRICT / OUR WELL BELOVED DEAD WHO DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE / GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.
