Baptized Joseph Antonio Daniel Julien, he served under the name Antonio Julien. Son of Daniel Julien and Laure Doyle, of Shawinigan Falls, Quebec.
He had previously served with the Joliette Regiment from July 1940 to July 1941. Enlisted at the 4th Military District Depot in Montreal South on July 7, 1943, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion of the Voltigeurs de Québec. On the 21st, he embarked for Great Britain and landed in Greenock, Scotland, on the 28th. Assigned to Force M in the Mediterranean, he set sail again on October 27, 1943, and landed on the Italian mainland on November 12. Transferred to the 4th Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment on December 24, he moved to the 1st Battalion on June 7, 1944. He was killed in action on September 1, 1944, during the Battle of Borgo Santa Maria. He was temporarily buried in Pesaro, grave number 8. On March 22, 1945, his body was exhumed and reburied at the British Empire Cemetery in Montecchio. He had served for 526 days, including 406 days overseas.
