Son of Delbert Francis Auburn and Dorothy Mariam Cooper, Toronto, Ontario

On March 1, 1941, at 11:50pm, this freighter was at anchor off buoy 20C waiting to enter the River Tyne when a German aircraft bombed and severely damaged her, but she remained afloat for nearly two hours before sinking the next day at 1:40am. She was to be part of convoy FS-557. Some of the wounded sailors died in the following days.
