L to R: Sgts A Gherstime (possibly Cherstime), A Nickol (Nichol), V Morris and G Crossman from the collection of Judith A (Webster) Bartlett Likely taken at No. 22 OTU at RAF Wellesbourne Mountford or at RAF Atherstone in Atherstone-on-Stour, 3.6 km south of Strafford-on-Avon. RAF Atherstone (later renamed RAF Strafford/RAF Strafford-on-Avon) was part of the No. 22 Operational Training Unit. The RAF Atherstone airfield opened in 1941 and was used by No. 22 Operational Training Unit as a satellite for RAF Wellesbourne Mountford. The two airfields were about 8 km apart. Vernon L Morris was TOS at No. 22 OTU on 14 Oct 1941, and assigned to no. 419 Squardon on 2 Jan 1942. Arthur Nichol (not Nickol) was in Course 14 at 22 OTU. A "G Crossman" was also at 22 OTU. in Course 15 Aaron Gherstime (maybe Aaron Cherstime) hs not been located in the course lists at 22 OTU -
