Location:

Bergen is on the coast 6 kilometres north-west of Alkmaar and 43 kilometres north-north-west of Amsterdam, lying 3 kilometres west of the main Alkmaar-Den Helder road. The BERGEN GENERAL CEMETERY is on the north-eastern outskirts of Bergen, in the road known as Kerkedijk. The British plots are in the south-eastern part of the cemetery.

No. 418 City of Edmonton Intruder Squadron was the first squadron to arrive at RAF Bradwell Bay, Essex, on 17th April 1942. This was a Canadian manned squadron flying twin-engine Boston aircraft
Lost on May 29, 1942, was Boston aircraft #8281 carrying general purpose and high-explosive bombs when it went missing over enemy-held territory.  FS Dusten, Wireless Air Gunner, FS R. P. Shannon, Observer, and the RAF pilot were killed.
