Location:

Bergen is on the coast 6 kilometres north-west of Alkmaar and 43 kilometres north-north-west of Amsterdam, lying 3 kilometres west of the main Alkmaar-Den Helder road. The BERGEN GENERAL CEMETERY is on the north-eastern outskirts of Bergen, in the road known as Kerkedijk. The British plots are in the south-eastern part of the cemetery.

  • Grave Marker– Photo used with permission of Frans van Cappellen, Putten, The Netherlands Wellington aircraft HZ-263 of 199 (RAF) Squadron was airborne 1930 12 Mar 43 from Ingham, Lincolnshire. Lost in the sea off the coast of Holland. Sgt Edward's body was washed ashore and is now buried in Bergen General Cemetery; his comrades have no known graves. They are: F/L W.J.King; Sgt D.A.Nunn; Sgt C.F.White; and Sgt C.R.Townsend RAAF. (Source: www.lostbombers.co.uk)
