Brother of Blair, Robin, Malcolm, Hugh, James, Hannah Mary, Katie Jean and Flying Lieutenant Donald Wallace, who died while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The government of Saskatchewan honoured John and his brother Donald naming Wallace Bay, located in the eastern part of Lake Athabasca, in their honour.
