Grave Marker – Photo courtesy of Frans van Cappellen, Putten, The Netherlands Stirling N6072 was airborne 0110 7Aug452 from Downham Market. Shot down by a night-fighter and crashed 0315 near Kessel (Limburg), Holland. Those killed are buried in Jonkerbos War Cemetery. Sgt Bachelder was a student of agriculture and graduated from MacDonald College, St.Anne de Bellevue, Canada. Killed were: Sgt. Bachelder; RAF Sgts H.P.Gardiner, G.C.Cavanagh, and L.W.A.Barnard. Three of the crew served out the war as PoWs: F/S D.W.Moffett; Sgt W.J.Laidlaw; Sgt J.V.Green. (Source: //lostbombers.co.uk)
